ST AMBROSE BID IS SUCCESSFUL

Virtual Planit are delighted to announce that the Balfour Beatty team of which we are a member have been selected as preferred bidder to redevelop St Ambrose College in Hale.

Virtual Planit provided the images and animations throughout the span of the final bid process and worked very closely with Sheppard Robson to ensure that the ITT delivered a slick and comprehensive visualisation of the new college.

Trafford Council’s Executive agreed Balfour Beatty Construction as the preferred bidder to build the new St Ambrose Voluntary Aided College. The build is being funded as part of the Government’s One School Pathfinder Project, under the Building Schools for the Future programme.

This decision means the company must now finalise its build proposals, prior to submitting them for formal planning approval. Until the point planning approval is secured, the company will be financially responsible for any preparatory work carried out.

Executive Councillor John Holden said on deciding which of the Borough’s secondary schools was in most need of a new building, a comprehensive assessment was carried out.

“The buildings assessment was necessary to make sure the final submission best met the Government’s programme criteria. St Ambrose College was identified as the school in most need of a new building and the bid submitted on these grounds.

This Executive decision means the Council now has a chosen contractor it wants to work with to achieve the successful build of the new St Ambrose College. The contractor will now work up its plans to submit a planning application. As part of the statutory planning and consultation process, local people and anyone else interested in the school will be able to have their views heard.”

It is currently anticipated a planning application could be ready for submission in February 2010
